Compustar Pager Alarm w/ Auto Starter Help!
hey i was looking at the new compustar alarms and i was wondering how would they get the autostarter function to work? my car is a sti and do they have to cut a valet key inorder to work the autostarter? thanks.
i just had a compustar installed on my 05 wrx key 2 weeks ago and i like it so far..autostart, turbotimer, dual zone shock sensors, paging system, window roll up & down...too many good features and reasons to spend the money. got mine for $390 installed. on my old car i had the top of the line viper setup and with compustar i feel like you get more for your money.
the autostart works with a clutch bypass relay that any competent stereo/alarm install shop can install..make sure that you buy your compustar from an authorized dealer, otherwise the warranty and tech support that come with the system are null & void. same deal if you buy the system over the web - no warranty.

The STi has the immobilizer chip in the key, so a remote starter won't work without a bypass module installed. An alarm shop should be able to do this, however bear in mind that doing so will compromise the security of the vehicle somewhat. Also note that most shops won't want to install a remote start in a manual transmission vehicle due to the liability issues, so you may need to find someone to do it privately if you can't/ don't want to do it yourself.

Also the fact that most shops wont install a remote start is nil with the compustar alarm, as it can be setup specifically for manual cars. When you pull the parking brake and turn the key off, the car stays running until the drivers door opens and closes. That way it knows you were in neutral and only after this process has been done will it allow you to remote start.
But other than that you were 100% entirely correct. Oh and I had a compustar on my bike (remote start and everything) and it worked like a champ. hilarious to see the look on peoples faces when a bike roars to life with noone on it.

Not exactly...the shops that sell Compustar systems are authorized installers thru Compustar. Find an authorized shop in your area on the Compustar website and you'll be all good - manufacturer warranteed work & zero liability issues. Again if you purchase the system from anyplace not endorsed by them,or install the system youself... the warranty is null. Period. So if anything goes wrong...even something basic- you're on your own..
Fasti > remote start bike owns!
