Talking Component Speaker suggestions

Hey folks,

I am in the market for some great sounding components. I have been eyeing some MB QUART QM 218.61 Q. These are nice but I think way overpriced. Any suggestions for a 02 wrx?

try FOCAL

I just put in some focals in my STi.
for the Fronts: Focal 165 v slims
http://www.focal-america.com/catalog.../165v_slim.htm

For the rears: 130 cv
http://www.focal-america.com/catalog...lass/130cv.htm

I also was looking at the MBs, i ended up going with the Focals, cuz i liked the sounds a bit better, the MBs are somewhat brighter in the highs.

the focals are a bit cheaper, and sound great.

i have diamond audio components and absolutely love them. a few others on this board have expressed reliability issues with DAT products though.

in light of that, have you given focal and rainbow audio speakers a try?

Since you're looking in a pretty high price range, you might want to take a look at Kappa Perfects. As far as MB Quarts being bright, in the crossover you can set it to -3 db I bellieve and they'll sound awesome.

dunno about the Q series, but the lower end MBQ's don't allow you to change the tweeter output.

I have Focals and love them. I suggest that you go to your local high end car shop and listen to all the brands they carry. There are a lot of nice sounding speakers out there man. Check out Focals, Boston Acoustics, Dynaudio, Diamond Audio Hex, DLS Ultimate, Rainbow, Morel & Lotus

did you have to use any sort of spacers for the fronts or rears?

thansk

thanks for the suggestions, I checked out some alpines, and some bostons and wasn't impressed, im afraid of focals because of reviews i have read about them beeing too dry, and i think the mb quarts would do fine with a -3 setting on the x over. but ebay is gettin too pricey as opposed to a couple of months ago for the specific speakers i want'

Which Bostons did you listen too? Zs? Pros? Rallys? What deck and amp was being run? What kind of music do you listen to?

Have you read the other threads on here and nasioc about this subject? I know there's been a bunch recently, and there are tons of opinions on a wide variety of components.

Whatever you do, make sure you give yourself a number of options, listen to all of them with some HQ music, and choose what YOU think is best

good luck

My friend has polk momos they sound really nice too, actually if you do enough research you will find that some speakers sound better with different types of music. because i know those polk speakers sounded better than my diamonds with the same deck when playing rap/hip hop but when playing rock mine soudned better
