Alpine type S speakers

I have a 98 rs with blown speakers all the way around. I want to get new ones. I am looking at the 6 1/2" infinity kappa 2-way speakers as well as the 6 1/2" Alpine SPS (I think). On crutchfield, it says that the alpines won't fit. Does anyone know why? Could it be as simple as screws not lining up or would i have to cut out the hole or something?

hte mounting depth for subies are ****ed. your magnet should be less then 2.5 inches if you want the speakers to fit. 6.5 in the front is really hard to fit in but ppl have done it b4. you also have to make a custom spacer so the speaker can sit on and fit. i would go 5 1/4 in the front and 6 1/2 in the back. the infinity kappas will fit. im not sure about the type s

i have the type s speakers in my 95 legacy (6.5" all around). there was absolutely no issue in putting the back ones in. in the front we had to put some washers between the door and the back of the speaker because when you unrolled the window it would hit the back of the speaker. other than that, i've had no trouble.... and they are really good speakers btw. i think the maximum depth you can go in front on a legacy is around 2 inches. its not deep at all... i would imagine the rs is very similar.
