Cool alarm not working??

i supposly bought my sti with the subaru upgraded security alarm but it doesnt seem to work or even act like if there is an alarm

when i leave my car i press the lock button and the horn sounds once, i noitced that it does not flash the headlights anymore like it did in the beginning when i first bought it.

one time to check if the alarm worked i rolled down my driver side window and i set the alarm, i reached in and opened the door from the inside and nothing happend,no alarm, nothin just the door opened.

so i dont know whats up. can anyone please let me know what they think about this

-thanks

Is the alarm upgrade indicated on your invoice/window sticker?
Assuming things haven't changed from 04, the alarm module should be located behind the glovebox so you can look for it there. There should also be a security horn attached to the passenger side strut tower under the hood.
Perhaps you put it in valet mode by accident? Is the security light in the dash blinking?

If the light is blinking constantly it is likely in valet mode. With the drivers door open, hold down the unlock button on the remote for a few seconds. If it is in valet mode that should cancel it.

No problem. Don't feel bad, this happens a lot.

If it is a newer ride, you may find that the "chirp" may be intermittent. This is happening on my '05 wagon and a common prob. I've had it in several times with no fixes. I remember the '04's with the same probs... Just a warning in advance should it happen to you...
