add 2nd factory sub?

Sorry if this has been asked before, couldnt find anything specific on it.

Just wondering if it is possible to add a second factory sub, mount it say, under the drivers seat in a 2003 WRX wagon. Is there any problem with the hookups to the stock hu?

Thanks in advance.

NO

You will have to contort the mounting bracket, just a little bending, to mount onto the driver side seat.
Or, you can bungie cord the subwoofer on the under side of the seat base... seems to sound better firing towards the floor.

Thanks for the help. So theres no problem hooking two subs up to the factory HU? Any special wiring required like a splitter?

No special wire(s) required.
The OEM subwoofer [kit] will come with harness included, it's plug-and-play.
You'll figure out how to daisy chain the two harness together

careful though, you might raised the impedance level seen by the head unit, causing it to overheat.

Some anti-freeze oughta take care of that!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesnt the factory sub have its own outboard amp, and it merely takes a speaker-level input from the hu? I'm not sure, but I dont think that would cause any impedance load problems.

Worth it?
I have 2 OEM subwoofers.
It's a pain to tune, adjust the high cut & gain, the woofer that it doesn't sound too booming. Otherwise, it's a decent bass filler.

As for mounting the woofer on the under side of the seat that it fires to the floor, yes, it does sound better. The bass notes are more defined.

2 OEM subwoofers @ $235 retail? No, there are better options unless you score the woofers @ $100 or less

I'm not electrically or electronically inclined, but I think that would be correct.
I've not have any issues running the 2 woofers off the OEM HU and currently with an aftermarket HU.

No other wires other than what comes OEM.
Your aftermarket HU will need a harness to receive the OEM plug to begin with, so that would be all you'll need. Unless you'd cutted the OEM wires, you're pretty much up in for some splicing and soldering.
