Find out if your stereo has a pre-amp out. Almost certain thats all you need to hook up a sub and amp. I would assume that if youve already got the amp uinder the seat that youve got one. Well actually, Subaru uses all the same headunits in the wrx's and just adds the sub, so my guess would be that its just plug it in and it will work

For the sub, yeah, check for outs.
For speakers, the debate goes round and round, but here is the facts. A good installer will but ANYTHING in there. I have 61/4 components in the front and 51/2 in the back. They fit. and I have MB Quartz, so they are big.
You can put 61/2 in the back if you want.

Get an amp with high level inputs. Connect the wires for the rear speakers to the high leval inputs. Then connect the amp to your speakers/sub. The factory sub does not us a pre-amp connection, because it hooks up piggy back to the stock connecter. I have the factory stereo connected to a crossover with a high signal input so I can run multiple amps. If you are using only one amp then the crossover is not necessary.
You could get an amp and/or a sub for your car and keep the original deck, but if you get an aftermarket deck you can adjust the depth and clarity of your sub, you wont be able to do that with your original deck. Good Luck.
