i always call after about 1 week..
but for most company it really takes some hook up.. and knowing some ppl from the inside to increase ur chance of getting in.

I don't know about most... but it does help. Sometimes, being qualified and interviewing well will actually get you the job! Totally serious!! ... I'm giving you a hard time.
