Just get 91 octane if you really want to see the car perform at optimum as they say. heck, you can even try 89 if you want.

Soooo do you have any new mods that significantly increase hp? Chip, turbo, hi flo fuel pump/injectors, etc...

youve never ran your car on 100 octane have you?

the car is crazy fast i can feel the difference when i was on teh stock ecu and stock turbo

Why should I pay 4-5 $/gal for it for a tank full of fun?

Well how much? (like franco was asking?) Does it sound like something is rattling around inside the engine? We beat to death an old 810 maxima (inline 2.4l 6) with cheap arco 87 unleaded and it sounded like there were rocks inside the engine. It still ran fine for what we needed it to do. It did run much better with 89 tho. Still knocked a bit, but it was fine.

And as for performance fuel, it is great! But I don't want to spend 4-5$/gallon on fuel unless I'm gonna use it for something really fun. Otherwise its a waste of money, IMHO.

it's just a safety precaution. It only knocks over 5k RPM when I really push the limits of the engine. I'm only spending extra $2 for 1 gallon of 105 octane to mix with 91 to bring the octane level up to prevent knocking. So far with the mix I havn't heard any serious pinging in the engine.
Under regular driving condition i don't see any problem.. but i like to push the limits of my car sometimes so i just want to keep the car in a good condition.
Engine knock is #1 cause of blown engine.
I just like to be safe than sorry..

Ahh ic. Our old clunker knocked going up a hill at the speed limit at ~3k RPMs. That was bad. I don't think yours is as bad in comparison. I rarely go over 5k unless I am on an on-ramp to the freeway. Too many cops in my area and too low of a speed limit to get to 5k. I just got done with my 3rd online course in my illustrious driving career and don't want a 4th.

Also, now that I think of it, if you want to push the engine, you'll need more work in the future keeping it in good condition. I don't go over 5k all the time, but I pick and choose my times for when I want power.

my car makes this tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick sound on idle.. does that suggest a problem? Also, when i get on the the gas i hear air flutter... But that could be from the leak in my mid pipe, that hopefully, a gasket will fix....

my engine had a ticking noise on idle with chevron gas. so then i used 76 religiously, then started alternating with shell. that's when i switched over to 10w-30 oil. i thought my car felt a better until it blew up. :P

did you have to go to a notary or a test center for the online traffic school thing? or did you use the webcam thing? how does that work?

So do you think that 10w-30 had an effect on anything? I just switched to that on my last oil change... Also, I've never used chevron, its always been shell, then I tried 76 for a month, and now im back to shell...... Could there be something else?
