Yep you can connect a USB HD using the ports the PS3 has.

I have a 500gb My book hooked up to my PS3 and I have all my Top Gear, Fifth Gear, Office, House, Initial D, and BMI videos on it. Plus a crap load of music.

You can store all that and view it through the PS3. Even some videos that you can DL off the PS Store can be stored on an extranal HD.

It's a great system and well worth the $500 I spent. They don't make mine anymore. It was the last of the best. 4usb ports, memory card slots, backwards compatible.

i heard my name, yes tversity is an awesome program, the only issue is that you need to have a computer running it. here are some recommendations on using tversity, have a hardwired line to the ps3 from your router. wireless is fun but i have seen issues with lag.

I use it over G also but my setting is pretty low since it's display over regular tv not HDMI.
There's slight lag with video transcoding (video not super smooth) but no lag via wireless internet connection

tversity is pretty good i used it with my 360 until i got a macbook then i switched to connect360
