I'm actually a good distance from most south Oahu - thank god. I'm staying in central Kaneohe, about 20 minutes from HNL. Honolulu and Waikiki are just ridiculously crowded. The traffic is intense.

I drove through the central island and along the north coast (stopped by a bunch of *amazing* not-crowded beaches), down through the upper east coast and inland back to Kaneohe. I much prefer the non-touristy beaches, by far.
