help with and uppipe

i installed a helix uppipe the other day, was pretty hard, and i got it on and went for a test drive and i could definatly feel a difference, but i heard a sound that i havent ever heard before. like almost like a fluttering sound, it isnt all that high pitched, but it was kinda alarming when i heard it. so could this be wastegate flutter or something else? i just redid the install tonight just to make sure i didnt miss something the first time around, and i heard the sound again. so yea, thanks for any replies.

i did try posting this same query in the wrx forum, but it wasnt too well taken, thought i might get some more answers here from local people

That is totally normal. When I did mine, I thought the same thing you did, but it is normal. All my friends with uppipes on their wrx's make that sound. I believe it is the turbo.

i hear a high pitched sound, that is almost like a bird, around 3000 rpms before turbo and engine drown out the sound, gonna take it all apart again and replace the gaskets to be on the safe side probably, and get a new downpipe since i'll be doing all that work for the third time.

that noise you're talking about is the increase in turbo spool. usually when ur uppipe is catless u can hear it "whine" more...thats all it should be..im hoping
