You sure it's a 22453? According to the CA Vehicle Code, 22453 is

[qoute]
Effect of Negligence on Passengers

22453. Failure of the driver of a motor vehicle carrying any passenger for hire to stop as required in Section 22452 shall not be imputed to any bona fide passenger for hire in such vehicle.
[/quote]

If the officer did put it as 22453, I'd argue that he gave a false citation and the ticket be expunged (if that's even the right term). Otherwise, take a picture of the intersection showing that there is a green arrow. Then grill the SOB and ask if he's familiar with the area. Then have him describe the traffic lights at that particular intersection. Hopefully the idiot will omit the "green arrow" and that's when you can screw him over. Present the picture in front of his face and have him describe in front of the judge. Good luck!

I'm bored at work, so I did a little reading up. I think you meant to put in 21453 and not 22453. If that's the case, if your gf had passed the lines marking the limit of the crosswalk, then he can pretty much have his way with you. It then comes down to he said she said where he would pretty much win unless you could bring down his credibility. The only way to do that is to see if there have been any complaints made against him for lying.

After reading all that crap, I just realized that I'm guilty of 21453(b). I think a good number, if not all of us are guilty of that one.

Well, go to http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vctoc.htm and that should help you out. But since it wasn't a typo, the cop has no chance of winning now. IMO, he wrote a ticket for a law that doesn't exist. If he wins, I sure as hell would like to know the reasoning behind that.

Be sure to bring what would have been a current copy of the CA Vehicle Code during the date the ticket was issued with you.
