isn't paying the fine a one-time thing only? if you're caught again they impound your car, strip it, sell it or crush it..something like that?

I don't think you recieved the same ticket as me bro. I'll write exactly what it says on the back of the ticket.

STATE REFEREE CERTIFICATION REQUIRED- NO OFFICER SIGN OFF
(SECTION 43012 CALIFORNIA HEALTH & SAFETY CODE.)
FOR STATE REFEREE APPOINTMENTS: 1-800-622-7733.
VEHICLE MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE ROADWAY IMMEDIATELY AND MAY NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL IN COMPLIANCE. (SECTION 24004 CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE)

That is exactly what it says. I've gotten an exhaust ticket before. Two times before this. First time I got a modified exhaust ticket, I just got it signed off without taking it off by a cool CHP officer. Second time I went to go get it signed off, he took one look at it and said, "no I can't sign that off." So I went to court and just paid the huge fine. So you see, I have been through what you're talking about before and it doesn't apply here in my current situation.

Its not a big deal!! put it back to stock go to the reff station! pay 39.50 for the smog. If u pass they will give u a paper work to take to court saying ur vehicle is compliant with the smog regulations. At court you will pay 10 dollars for court fees and thats it our done! For the modified exhaust u know what to do.

I was going 65 MPH. He pulled me over because I have the HKS TI exhaust. Its noticeable. He was going to just drive by but he took a look at my front mount intercooler and pulled me over. He said that the exhaust I have on my car is illegal. He told me to pop my hood open and said that my front mount intercooler is illegal. The Greddy BOV is illegal. He couldn't spot anything else.

the whole intake has to be CARB-certified...the cop is right....stupid law, but I guess his job is to enforce the all the laws...even the stupid ones.

Are you sure you weren't doing anything else? I have a 3" Borla XR1, and I drive by there almost every day...pass and get passed by CHP all the time and noone's ever hassled me...although I don't have a FMIC or a BOV. Is the HKS really THAT much louder? Yikes.

chances are cop was being an a-hole. i used to drive a chevy 454ss truck and once on the 5 heading north near bakersfield i saw a chp pulled over to the side. i passed him doing maybe 75, and i immediately slowed down to 70. about a mile down i see him in my rear view. tails me for a bit, gets on the side of me, and finally in front of me. gets behind me again and pulls me over for no front licence plate. let me off with a warning but i knew he was just aching for a reason to pull me over.
