Got a Fat ticket from CHP
27150 (A) VC modified exhaust
27156 (B) VC mod. emmisions
The officer that issued the ticket also said that my car is out of service til i get it all fixed. He also said that in the event that I get pulled over by another cop, I would get arrested and my car would get towed. He took pictures of my engine bay. On the back of the ticket he put a sticker that says only the state referee can sign it off. It also says that my car must be removed from the roadway immediately and may not be driven til it is in compliance. I have a question though. I have no idea what I need to replace to get this ticket signed off. Is it just the exhaust? Are they going to check my smog? Here is a list of my mods.
Intake
Greddy FMIC
Catless Uppipe
Catless Downpipe
HKS exhaust
VF34
Greddy Blow off

Called the number on the back. They told me that they are going to do a smog check on the spot, check the sound level with a machine, and visually check the engine bay. My plan so far is to keep everything else on and change the exhaust from the catback back to stock. Also add a catalytic converter. Hopefully that will pass smog and the sound. Visually, I don't think thats really a problem because the Lancer Evo's have front mount intercoolers and they come stock in that form. Hopefully everything will work out just fine because I really miss driving my car.
Dang that suxs, I think you need the the whole stock DP to pass emissions but i onno about the FMIC thats pretty easy to spot. It sucks that the cop took a picture of your engine otherwise you could just put at least the stock TMIC back on.

i received the same ticket in torrance. You don't HAVE to take it to the ref. There is a fairly large fine you can pay and it all dissappears.
