Sorry to sound so negative but it does work easily like people think it would. The whole world isnt going to comply with this, these messages get to the oil companies so they already know and their marketing people will adjust if they need too. People are still going to buy gas that day if they need it, if they do follow they will buy it the day before or the day after. If worse comes to worst then the oil companies will just raise prices to compensate for losses if any occur. Its been tried and rendered useless before, this has been on all the other forums and every single one of these points have been brought.
It didnt work in '98, it would be a miracle if it worked now.

Ultimately gasoline prices are dictated by supply and demand. Supply is finite, and current demand is measured not in potential (that is infinite), but rather in production capacity. Demand currently exceeds production capacity and has been steadily rising for years. So basically what Im trying to say is one days variation isnt going to compensate for this at all.
