So everyone that would've bought gas that day buys the day before or the day after, and it changes nothing.

Sorry to sound so negative but it does work easily like people think it would. The whole world isnt going to comply with this, these messages get to the oil companies so they already know and their marketing people will adjust if they need too. People are still going to buy gas that day if they need it, if they do follow they will buy it the day before or the day after. If worse comes to worst then the oil companies will just raise prices to compensate for losses if any occur. Its been tried and rendered useless before, this has been on all the other forums and every single one of these points have been brought.

It didnt work in '98, it would be a miracle if it worked now.

I second what wrx-pilot says. Too many drivers need to get around for various reasons, gas is a must.

I have never understood this notion. Firstly, as has been already stated, if you don't but gas one day, you will need to buy the next. As gas stations don't order gas on a daily basis this would *possibly* slow down their next order...maybe. Assuming that this possible slow down translates into a surplus at the refinery, they just wouldn't have to produce as much the next day. The 'Pie in the Sky' senario being that they momentarily reduce the demand for oil and the price per barrel drops a little bit in the short term? Assuming that happens, the oil companies can then just buy oil at a reduced price and charge the same inflated price for gas. So.... The end result is that they make more profit.

Folks, this is an internet hoax. See my 'sticky' in the General forum.

You are free to continue on with your lives as you normally do on the 19th.
