IF you push the car really really hard (i.e redlining alot) it will send the car into CEL mode, which is nothing serious, but something may have tripped the CEL light to come on as a precaution. Usually this is relatively minor, and it will correct itself within a 50-100 miles of driving if nothing is wrong. However, if you don't want to wait a 100 miles or so, before the light resets, you can always pull the battery and reset the ECU.
This offers several advantages. It allows the ECU to reset itself and adjust to your driving habits, and if there is something that is seriously wrong, then the CEL light will come back on and you will know if you have a problem or not.

my check engine lights been on every since in installed my downpipe. just wondering if the installation of the downpipe is harming my car.. if not i dont mind the check engine light being on..please respond. my homie own a shop in la puente too... called SPARK MOTORSPORT... heard of it?
