I was using maxima filters on my 2.5RS until I traded it in since my dad would save time just getting 3 of the same filter (and get in on discounts). The filter used for the 2.5RS is noticeably smaller than the one on our other cars ('81 maxima and '71 240Z). However, it worked just fine.

As for the amt of oil used, I have used more than 4 quarts. More like 5. I just did my last oil change a week ago and I used up 4 bottles and only had 1/8 of the last one left after doing the routine. In a 2.0l engine, I would think the engine would use less oil unless the volume is made up in the oil pan. In a turbo engine, especially the high output design on the Sti, i'd imagine you'd want more oil.

Anyways, I think as long as you get a filter that is recomended or slightly bigger, you should be ok.

EDIT- just get a normal filter and nothing with additives. I use the Purolator Pure One myself.

no sir.. the EJ25 isn't setup for twin scroll.
in japan the sti twin scroll setup is on the EJ20
EJ20 = the Win

 

I think he meant if the oil pan in the EJ25 is similar to the one set up for the EJ20 twin scroll in Jp.
