Angry Any experience with Timmons of Long Beach?

cuz i think they are full of SH*t!

i recently insalled a stock boost gauge that i bought used. installed it with some vacuum hose and a "t" from autozone. the gauge was reading about 7psi max. took it to the dealer to make sure everything was o.k. they told me that it was the installation of the gauge that was causing the wrong reading (specifically no damper tube and wrong t-fitting). said it would be $180 to fix it. i SPECIFICALLY asked them if that was the only thing wrong, and if it was in fact getting the right amout of boost. "yes it is," the assured me.

i told them thanks, but that i would just get a better boost gauge with the correct hose and fittings.

so i ponied up and got an omori full color 45mm boost gauge. intalled it with the supplied hose, t-fitting, and guess what it read?? 7 FRIGGEN PSI!

anyone know another place i can take it to cuz i am done with timmons.

yea sure ive done several boost gauge installs. are u hooking it up to the fuel pressure regulator or the blow of valve? fuel regulator is a better reading. the t fitting or the fitting on the actual boost gauge could be leaking. especially if it was plastic.
honestly go back to timmons, return the product and tell them to !#%# off. go buy a boost gauge you like and the installation is simple as can be. maybe 15 mins.

the first one (lamco) i bought used, and it only came with a hose and wiring. i had to buy a cut-to-fit universal t-fitting from autozone and installed it. after the dealer suggested this was the problem, i bought a brand new omori that included with all of its hardware, a t-fitting with a brass restrictor pill.

the problem is that i am getting the exact same boost results! my car feels like it is not pulling as hard too but when the dealer "assured" me it was fine, i figured it was just my imagination. now i am just really pissed.

i went in through the stock bov. my only mods are a 3"catback, k&n drop in, and silencer delete.

I used to go to Timmons back in 1997 or so. They serviced two of my VWs when I lived in Long Beach. They were a great service department back then, but who knows...things can change.

The dealer can speculate what the problem is all day, but until they look at your car and the install...they are only speculating. I bet they could find the problem if you gave it to them. They've done excellent work for me in the past.

I know you want to do the work yourself and save some cash, but you are basing your experience on talking to service guys, but they aren't the ones who would do the work on your car. Just my two-cents and an FYI.

Good luck with your boost guage issue. Hope you get it resolved. Sounds like a vaccuum leak.
