Thoughts on 1.1bar on 91 CA gas

I am wondering what you guys think about running 1.1bar or about 16 psi on 91 octane gas?

How safe is this?

I know the knock sensor will retard the timing if it senses detonation but what would be the point of running the higher boost if the ECU is consistently pulling the timing.

Just want a few more opinions

You can run more boost, but you'll have to run much richer to keep the timing advanced. If timing has to fall back, you'll lose more power than you can get back by being richer.

I'd say you're

at as much boost as I'd run on the stock turbo. Actually, I run less on better octane. At around 16 psi, you're starting to run out of room on the stock turbo, it's starting to be inefficient (blowing hot air). I have a FMIC and still don't run 16 psi even with octane booster. But then again I can't afford to blow my motor.

Well for what it's worth, Cobb Stage 2 will only tune for 15.5 psi on the stock turbo with CA91.

It's not really worth it...that little turbo just blows hot air anyway.
