Oli Catch Tank

Can someone explain to me what advantages there are to an oil catch can? What exactly does it do? Is it worth putting on my nearly stock car?

The reason you would want to catch the oil being blown through your PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system is twofold- one, you don't want it going through your compressor; two, you don't want it ingested into the combustion chamber to foul things up. The purpose of PCV is emissions- the little bit of ring blow-by you get causes positive pressure in the crankcase, which causes small amounts of oil and unburned/partially burned fuel to escape in the atmosphere. In order to cut down on that particular source of pollution, the air circulating through the crankcase is drawn through the intake to be bunred witht he rest of the fuel. It's cleaner, but not so good for your engine. It's not harmful, just reduces efficiency. By catching it in a can, you keep your engine a little healthier.

here is a pretty good explanation of what an oil catch can does, and why you would want one....
