Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question IHI VF34????? or Mitsu TD-05-18G??????????

I was wondering what is your guys opinions on what turbo i should get??? (have any of you owned these turbos?) i'm into road racing, touge (uphill/downhill) and drag every so often.....so i boiled my decision down to the IHI VF34 and the Mitsu 18g...i planned on getting either one of them from deadbolt....so either or the turbo is gonna be monster ported and have that "black extreme" ceramic coating....well thanks in advance

Hey,

I have a VF-30 and I quite like it. If I was going to choose another turbo I would go with a 16G due to the better spool response of this turbo over the VF-30. If you get any of these turbos make sure that you get some sort of fuel managment with them. I have STI pinks and an upgraded fuel pump and I am almost maxed out at 17 PSI.

If you are just driving on the street you need to consider lag and response and what you prefer. The 16Gs that have been ported and polished will give most people the power that they desire and can afford for that matter!

Later Super

you definitely will have bigger numbers with the 18g....and besides vf 30's and 34 are so common now..it's the standard upgrade for wrx owners...I have the 34 myself and if I were to go back, I would've went with the 18g ...
