IHI VF22 v.s. IHI VF34
This is what i know about the two turbos:
1.) VF22
a. the biggest IHI VF Series that came out
b. can hold a max boost of 25 psi
c. ball bearing design
d. "laggy" b/c of old design
e. Pretty Cheap
2. VF34
a. Quick Response
b. Good mid to top end
c. ball bearing design
d. pretty cheap
e. Can't hold as much boost as vf22
If somebody can point out the Pros and Cons of each turbo that'll be great. Before I was gonna go for the PE1820 but as far as reliability I really don't know how long Power Enterprise turbos lasts. I know PE's uses the same IHI turbos but with some modifications of their own.
Thanks

You pretty much got most of the pro and con of the two turbo. Except to MINOR points that you might want to know. VF34 has a 90degree inlet meaning compared to VF22, maximum air velocity at the inlet can be achieved (mathematicly). The con's is that VF34 i used on limited production of the STI (as far as I know). What this translates to is the turbo's performace charaterictis and other behaviors is not as well known compared to the VH22. Which has been around for quick sometime. To me, its like a protype released for the customer to test out.

the vf 22 is a much older design turbo. it is bigger therefor more laggy by nature. the vf 34 will have slightly better midrange then the vf22, and will be better all around and much more dependable due to the fact that it is a much newer design.
the pe series turbos are very dependable. also very expensive!!!
