It's OEM Subaru oil filters for me, topped up with 4 litres of Motul finest (300V).
Only problem is OEM now means Honeywell, which makes Fram filters lol

Wix makes a decent filter but I usually pick up the K&N with the nut on the bottom

It's funny to me when "car guys" don't already know this. I've known this since I was 12, I'm almost 40 now. (yikes).

Wix used to have a counter display for auto parts stores that had one of their filters cut open next to a Fram cut open.

Of course I've already passed this knowledge onto my son. So he won't be drinking any orange kool-aid

I think this is pretty odd too. I remember someone mentioning using FRAM filters too very recently. I didn't say anything as it seemed like it would just start another pointless inter-tizzy. I use OEM filters for the respective brand.

EDIT: here is the post I was referring to: https://www.i-club.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=11

those look sick, but 99 bucks? then I'm guessing you change out the inner cartrage? but even still that's 15 bucks. Seems a little overkill for a street car

I was using Fram for awhile, but recently switched over to Bosch. Not sure how much better they are, but they are priced similarly

I normally use the K&N filters as well. I like that they have the hex nut type thing on the bottom which helps with my motorcycle and it also has a couple holes for safety wire (required for racing on a track).

Sorry for the hijack.

Tell that to the several customer's that have required a new engine because of cheap filters, cheap oil, and cheap labor.

I should send JiffyLube HQ a gift basket for all the work they send my way.

Yeah man, I agree that cheaping out on filters is a BIG NO-NO, but $100 for an oil filter that you have to replace (innards) like any normal filter, seems like overkill for a street car when you can buy standard filters that do a great job (like the stock filters) for a mere $10 or so. Why pay $100 for basically an oil filter holder that holds the $15 inner filter? Maybe for a race car, but for a street car?

(sorry if that didn't make sense, I'm really light headed from giving blood, not eating, and throwing up like crazy right after. It's been about 30 hours since Ive eaten. )
