Normal or not the history behind this car warrants checking all of the work. Every last point should be checked and verified to be in sound condition. An underdash electrical fire sucks. It's very expensive.
The first car I ever had, '86 Chevy Spectrum (loved this car) I was toying around with some stereo stuff. I left a hot wire uncapped (didn't know it at the time) I was cruising down the road with my buddies and saw a puff of smoke, WTF. Then that puff turned into a white cloud of burning insulation. I pulled over on the side of the road and all of us jumped out of the car with our hands over our heads thinking it was going to explode. That one wire melted every wire in the loom, they all shorted to ground. The whole dash board needed to be stripped and rewired. Funny part it happened right in front of the fire dept. Some jack hole saw us running out of the car with all the smoke. He asked "do you want me to call the fire dept?" Idiot....

FYI, here is a PM I sent to Paul when I heard from Weston this car was coming his way:
Hey Paul,
I heard you will likely be tuning an LGT I've worked on the past. It has a "built" motor with some random heads and cams put together by a shop who didn't really know what they were doing. I tuned the car in that state as a favor to the customer who owned it at the time. If it was anyone else I would have turned the car away. I could barely get the thing running and could not get it driving decently at all. I believe the car has some major mechanical and wiring issues, not to mention a hacked together setup. I literally got the thing running as best as I could with what he brought in. He wanted to sell the car and wanted to get it running as is without spending any more money on it. He ended up selling it and I heard the current owner ran into some more issues.
Again, this car runs like absolute **** and I would recommend going over it carefully and fixing any mechanical issues before even attempting to re-tune it.
Good luck with it and let me know if I can be of any assistance. I'll even be happy to provide you with the map that its currently running if that will help you. In all honesty I feel bad for the current owner for buying such a pile.
I have not recieved any reply from Paul.
Thanks

To the current owner,
The car was indeed in an accident that was much more than a fender bender. The body shop replaced the cam cover but did not check or re-align the cam timing. Shortly after that, the engine failed catastrophically on a high speed pull. After that, the engine was replaced with 07 heads and some random JDM cams that I never received specs on. The car was then brought to me to get it running. I informed the owner that it had major wiring issues and I suspected leaks as well. He requested that I just get it running as well as possible as he didn't want to deal with it anymore. I did so, but the car still ran horribly. After seeing that mess of wiring, I'm not surprised! FYI, the car ran great for 2 years prior to the accident.
Good luck with the car, I honestly feel bad for you. I never wanted my name associated with this car since the accident and I would not have guessed that Weston would have sold it without making it known that it was in an accident and had issues. That is very unfair to the new owner and I do not agree with such a sale.
Thanks
