out of laziness I'll send you a link... as you guys may know 300/300 ish on ed's software is about 400 to the crank, that's on Cali crap 91, boost to 21psi (hits 20 in 1st even and THAT is a fun ride), sti style TDO6H 20g, needless to say I'm happy:

Wow. You folks are sure active over here. I like that.

I think I've heard enough dissonance to merit waiting, talking with both guys, and then figuring out who's more interested in really taking care of my car ... and seems like they can do it successfully.

btw- my I have a MY00 RS with an AVO kit (currently at 4psi).

Weston, Ed's going to tune my 18G (with the AVO TMIC) next week at EIP. Then I'll probably go back to Mike once the shop is setup and do my 100 octane map. What ever happened with your car/accident?

Ancalagon, that's the perfect way to read this situation. Just give each guy a call and see who you get the better feeling from. If one of them tunes you and you have problems you can always take it to the other if you can't get it worked out... not that I think that's going to happen... from what I've heard Mike is a good guy and I know that Ed is. I think they're friends too, so neither would probably like this dissonance.

At this point I'm too involved to actually comment on either tuner -- except for the fact that they are both great guys and they both work together happily... it's very much not a negative competitive thing, which is great because everybody benefits when the local tuners/shops/etc get along and can work cooperatively when necessary.

That said, there's really no reason to take Ed's dyno numbers with a grain of salt. He wrote the software himself and it creates real whp numbers based on simple mathematical equations taking into account gear ratios, tire diameter, speed, weight, frontal surface area, coefficient of drag, etc. Anyway, that doesn't matter so much as the fact that if you feel like the Mustang at Gruppe-S is the correct dyno in terms of HP ratings, Ed's numbers are usually almost identical to it. My Legacy, for instance, was actually 0.1 HP and like 1.1 ftlbs off between the two.

I wouldn't have anything bad to say about either tuner, not in public or private. I've been to both multiple times and like both of them...

I think some of you guys would be shocked with how well Ed's cars drive and how quick they are. People give him a hard time -- and always have -- because of his age or whatever it is... but he truly has a knack for it and really intrinsically understands what's going on. He makes good tunes. So does Mike.... but he's been around and everybody already knows that. Doesn't need anyone to stand up for him ... not that Ed really does unless you're on t3h intrAweb... his customers usually do that and his tuned cars do (like DownSTI's), as well.

very well put. people have this notion that if two people do the same thing, they have to be competitive and you have to prove which one is "better."

Experience is good, but that doesnt mean not as much experience is bad...and actually experience doesnt always mean good

Not to say Ed is bad..hes shown he can tune the **** out of a stock turbo vf39 recently, but at this point the guy isn't at the same level.

People that honestly know both their backgrounds and motorsports/customer tuning history i think would agree.

4 years ago Mike wasn't at the level Shiv was either..how things change.

You EQ fan boys, take this with a grain of salt...as this isn't bashing your tuner...It just takes alot of time/cars/racing to season a tuner.
I still think Mike isn't at the level that Shiv is at tuning wise. Maybe when it comes to Subarus, yeah. But ask Mike to tune a new E90 BMW 335ci or a Porsche 996 TT and see what happens. Car companies like Mazda, BMW, etc don't just give Shiv cars to play around with for nothing.

That's unfortunate, and I hope you get it back soon. But, at least you're in good hands with the LIC guys now. That's where I have all of my installs done...
