Between the two houses in the last pic is the creek. The folks down the street from me (other direction) are much worse off. My neighbor has a foot of water in his garage and his entire backyard is submerged. Fortunately there is nothing in our house yet.

The water in the street is receding pretty fast, but as soon as it starts raining again, we are screwed.

It took a piece of wood just under 2 seconds to cross the driveway.
Driveway is 10ft wide.
Assume that the flooded area is 20 ft wide by 1ft deep

20ft X 10ft X 1ft / 2 seconds = 100 cubic ft per second or 750gallons/sec!!

BTW, that's not our garbage can in the pic. It floated from a couple of houses up the street before it got enough rain inside to weight it down and stop at our driveway.

egan, ouch. my pool was starting to look like that. i ran the drain pump for about an hour last night as a precaution and am draining the **** out of it again right now.

we've been pretty lucky so far. i've got a lot of floating bark in my back yard, and the dog run has got a huge puddle (guess they're staying in today), and a tiny bit of water is seeping into one of the spare rooms (carpet is out anyway awaiting new, time to caulk up a few slab cracks).

Sheesh- The water level completely covered the street and started rising in Sac this morning. I had to go out in that stuff and move the vehicles to higher ground. I'm thinking of bidding on a Zodiac on Ebay!
