Will SOA cover my engine?

I have an 05 2.5RS wagon with 44K. I think I have a spun rod bearing. I bought it at Maita in Febuary with 37K and have had 2 oil changes at Maita. I am going to take it to the dealer but I have a 06 WRX midpipe and muffler on it. I don't have the stock midpipe anymore and am looking for one in the meantime. Do you think they will cover the repairs with the WRX exhaust or should I get a stock midpipe and muffler and then take it in. which dealership should I take it to? .

I don't see why not since its OEM exhaust and to be honest...thats not going to directly contribute to the cause of a spun rod bearing. But for best results, please refer to the dealer since they will be doing the warranty
BTW - If in doubt, just put the stock exhaust back on if you have it.

Low on oil, over-revving the motor, defective bearing, out of tolerance rod diameter, out of tolerance crankshaft, etc.

If you have any hope of getting it worked on with that exhaust, don't take it to Maita. Try Autowest in Roseville.

Legally they cannot refuse a warranty due to a catback.

They will try to say that the exhaust helps the engine make more power. More power equals more broke stuff. Therefor the exhaust broke the engine.

That's nothing compared to the mercedes dealer who said that I shouldn't lower my car because that will put stress on the rear drive shafts which will then put more stress on the diff then main drive shaft then tranny then engine.

That makes as much sense as that church that protest military funerals because there are gay people in America.

I heard it on Thursday morning. I drove it home Wednesday night kinda hard but not really in the red and it was the 100 degree day. I checked the oil and it is full (only 1k miles on oil) since change. The car usually uses about .5 qt between 2 oil changes that I have had. I know Maita put in 5W-30 Pennzoil on the last 2 oil changes. The car drives fine and has great power.
