Who here rides?
Just wondering. I just picked up a n00b/beginner bike to ride to work for the summer, and was wondering who here rides and when/where. Thanx

I ride.. Bike is down for winter maint at the moment.. I have a bunch of projects to finish before I get to reassemble my bike tho..
Normally I ride every weekend that is dry.. In the winter months I ride Berryessa.. Wentworth in the summer.
ATGATT for me.. A wise man once told me that crashing is absolutely certain.. It will happen.. Absolutely.. Gotta accept that and always gear up.. (I didn't believe him at first.. Have the scars that proved me wrong
)

I was about to PM you since I remember you mentioning you ride with some local group. If you guys don't go super fast and don't mind a n00b tagging along I'd be happy to join one of the cruises some time

Nice ninja 500. Smart move picking that bike over a 600 sport bike cuz that is a great learner bike.
I also suggest you DONT ride with unfamiliar people and/or groups of people you dont really know. i suggest that you get some hours under you belt b4 you group ride.
With that said, rubber side down!
I ride. Started out with the good ol' ninja 250... sold that and got a ZX-6R about 6mo. later, lol! Stunted the crap outta that and dropped/fixed that bike a few times and got rid of it after a few years.
My only time down with the 250 was in a parking lot at about 5mph. Front end washed out cuz of some sand that had accumulated in my old work parking lot and my "noob-to-streetbike" status. (I'd ridden dirt bikes and quads for most of my life). The 600 was a different story. I was pretty crazy with it :/ dare I say, stupid. It spent most of its time in warehouse alleys doing rolling burnouts, stoppies, wheelies, and all other sorts of shenanigans along with high speed canyon runs. I was VERY lucky that the worst time down on that one was in a controlled environment even though it was at a pretty good clip. Hit the ground at about 60mph after about an hour long stunt session in a basically abandoned construction area with nothing to hit but the pavement and dirt.
Luckily I had all my gear on and the only thing hurt (aside from some minor soreness and whiplash) was the bike. That one taught me a lesson and made me respect the bike more. You never know what little thing might cause it to do something weird and you always have to be careful. The moment you get too comfortable and over-confident is when something always happens.
Currently riding an '03 Kawi ZX-7R (heavy enough to not tempt me to try to pick up the front wheel).
Best advice for a newer rider is to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course as soon as possible. They provide a bike to learn on, an M1 endorsement for your license and most importantly, information that could save your life. Also, don't stunt the bike you're going to ride as a commuter/cruiser/weekend canyon carver. You WILL destroy it if you do (and likely hurt yourself). Buy a beater stunt bike if you really wanna do that and keep it off public streets.
Well said. Every bit of this is true. Be safe out there and have fun

There are two types of riders; The ones that have been down, and the ones that are going down.

I have an '07 GSX-R 600 track bike, and a '06 DRZ 400SM for the streets yO.

I'm glad I found this thread, cause I was going to make one just like it to see who else loves 2 wheels too.

You guys know what I mean too. You wake up, look out the window, smell the morning air, and it all just feels right. See, now I don't want to sell rofl.
I could really use the extra money every month from not having the monthly payment on the STi, whereas I own the bike outright. I don't know.
I suppose if someone ever makes an offer that matches what I feel the bike is worth, I would sell it.
