Who has a trailer hitch on their 02+ Impreza sedan?

I see that Subaru only has a hitch available for the wagon. I did find a company out of Oregon who makes a hitch for the sedan but it requires cutting the rear bumper for the actual hitch to extend through.

IIRC Egan or Oaf have a hitch, where is it from and how was the install? I'd like to be able to tow a jetski with my car.

Thanks guys

Da'Lan hitch. I bought mine from http://www.tiretail.com It fits nicley with my exhaust. Some of the others (draw-tite for one) have clearance issues with bigger exhausts.

Install was super easy and took less than 1/2 an hour. It's just 4 bolts into existing frame holes.

Do you think its beefy enough to pull a jetski? My guess with trailer and jetski the weight is around 600+/- pounds.

It's a 1.25" receiver and is Class 1 (rated for up to 2,000 lbs).

Hmmmm. What's the max tounge weight?

I've been thinking about getting a foldable motorcycle trailer.

Do ya think your hitch would have issues with my exhaust?

We can measure it to be sure.

Tongue weight (gross) is 200 lbs.

I got mine from the Rack store...can't remember the name...and the only issue was with the fart can tip.
This was fixed using two Kartboy Long exhaust hangers.
BTW, I have 2 extra if you need them.

looks like class 1 is all I would need. How about the tow ball options, does it use a standard tow ball mount?

I do suppose i should just check the link you sent

btw, did you have to cut any of your bumper?

I think mine was $125 or so. Any 1.25" receiver will fit.

I had to trim about 1/8" of a small section of bumper on the underside. You can't see it at all. I'll show you when you come by Friday.

Draw-Tite vs Da'Lan vs OEM

Hello,

I've been digging around in the website trying to decide what kind of hitch to get. I have an '04 WRX Wagon. My inclination is to simply get the one sold by Subaru, but the pictures on the web-site make it appear that it juts out from the bumper even with the ball-reciever removed. I don't know if that is the case, it just sort of looks like it does in the web-pictures.
So, my questioins are:

1. Is a hitch, a hitch? All Class "1" hitches should pefrom the same, correct?

2. Why did you choose the hitch you choose?

3. I intened to pull a U-Haul trailer soon and then following that will primarily use the hitch for a bicycle rack. In the future I hope to pull a motorcycle trailer. I'm also interested in this "tire-tail" device mentioined in the previous postings. Anything I should consider with all these different uses?

4. Whichever hitch I pick, I would like it to tuck-up under the bumper well when the ball is removed.

5. My exhaust is stock, but would like to reserve the option of upgrading my exhaust in the future.

6. I intend to simply leave the hitch on and not remove it when not in use.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

David in Brooklyn, New York.
