OK, What about that cartoon with that ship that looked like a boat in space (red on the bottom) Kinda like robotech but not quite.

What about that TV series with that family that got zapped into a parrallel universe where everything was the same but different. The accident happened during a tour of the Egyption Pyramids.

 

Um... not Land of the Lost, was it?

 

No. They didn't go back in time. Things were just different. There was a heavy military presence. They also became popular because they recorded music from 'home'. The alternate place had crappy music. when they recorded it it went onto pink colored magnetic tape.

The older kid's grades were sucking so the military took him away to become a soldier.
