We need another drive

I went for a drive with my wife today up Hwy 88, but it was closed because of avalanche control. great fun driving in the snow, and I got to thinking that there hasn't been a drive in while. Anyone up for some fun? obivously I'd prefer some more southern places, ridge road, etc. but higher up so we can see some white stuff, but I would also head up towards placerville if something is set up. Suggest some locations if you are interested.

If you ever get a chance take HWY 20 west, from Willit's to Ft. Bragg. It's 36 miles with 280 turns

it's about 3 hours north of six flags: marine world, off 101 but it's almost worth it.

i found it this weekend wile off to my grannies.

I went through there in the beginning of November and it was a blast. I lucked out and hit only minor, passable traffic until the last few miles. I made the most of clear road.

If you're using your brakes, you're not going fast enough.

We'll probably try to organize something around MLK day. Keep your eyes open.

I used to do that drive once a year in August to take the kids to a soccer tournament in Ft. Bragg. I've driven it in a Toyota van, a Mazda truck and the in-law's motor home (not fun). The one time I get to drive the WRX I get stuck with a CHP behind me most of the way. I finally pulled over in one of the passing lanes and let him by. Going home I got stuck behind a caravan of motor homes and by the time I passed the last one I was at Willits.

It's a fun drive, but since it's the main road to Ft. Bragg it can get rather busy.

Try old highway 40 between sugarbowl and donner lake. Probably one of the most beautiful drives in Northern California and it is open year round.
