Thanks, guys, for all your help. If you ever need to use a garage for an install or need to use some tools , you're welcome to stop by.

What time did you drop by? We took a few breaks to eat and drink, and I've got a lot of stuff in the garage that's easy to steal so I close the garage when no one's there. I feel bad for having you drive all that way and picking up those gaskets. Sorry, bro, next pitcher of beer (or soda ? ) is on me.

Here's the breakdown:

NEVER, EVER, ORDER FROM WWW.KINGPINPERFORMANCE.COM !!!!!!

After two weeks, I finally got my "parts" on Friday. But let me start from the beginning. Two weeks ago I call kingpinperformance to order the B&B turbo-back exhaust (www.bbtriflo.com) and Perrin lightweight crankshaft pulley. I called the shop directly instead of online because I wanted to make sure they had them in stock and that there won't be other problems. They said they had everything, so I gave them my cc number which they promptly charged. I was okay with that since they had the stuff in stock and was going to be shipped that day. WRONG! They didn't have any of it in stock, but they still charged me. I was going to be damn near Oregon that week without access to email. They sent me an email the next day when I was on the business trip asking me what I'd like to do since they didn't have the exhaust in stock. So, for three days, they kept my money. They didn't refund a dime. I emailed them back on Thursday evening when I found out, and asked about it. They said they already shipped the pulley, but wanted to know what I wanted to do regarding the exhaust because the turbo-back wouldn't be ready for two weeks. I told them to refund it to me, but then changed my mind and said that if they had the downpipe, and the cat-back (separately sold), they could just send both of them. They said they had the downpipe, but didn't have the cat-back, but will recieve it from BB will on Monday. So Monday and Tuesday roll around, and I don't hear anything from the person I'm dealing with. But I do make several emails and phone calls during those two days. At this point, I haven't even received the pulley, yet, even though I've been told about three times that it's been sent. On Wednesday, I tell basically tell them that I want answers or a refund. Lo and behold, I get a phone call, and they say they've received the parts from B&B and will ship that day. I ask that they be sent two-day priority on their dime and they agree. I ask about my pulley, oh, it's being shipped along with it... gee, I thought it was already shipped. I take the day off on Friday to finally end this bullshiet. I stay home all day. At about 1:30pm, I hear a door bell and think it's the stuff, well, it is something I ordered, but not the car parts. I keep checking the fedex website, and at 2pm, it says they tried to deliver at 12pm but no one was home. WHAT?! I called fedex and told them I was home all day, and there isn't even a note saying they dropped by. Oops. They call the driver and tell him he needs to deliver the thing. So, in about an hour my stuff comes in and I think I'm in the clear. First box comes in. The BB cat-back. Second box, it says Perrin on it. I start to get worried. Maybe the downpipe is in the first box, too, and the idiots used a huge as5ed box to put the pulley in.... or maybe they just used the box to put the pulley and BB downpipe in. Nope, neither. They sent me a Perrin downpipe instead. Now, some of you may think, "That's better. They make quality stuff. I've never heard of Billy Boat Performance." Well, BB is pretty well known, especially among the more expensive and picky Corvette and Porsche owners, just not in the Subaru circle. In any case, it was not what I wanted. I've been lied to multiple times. At that time, I calculated the cost and time to correct their mistake AGAIN, and figured it wasn't worth it.

Well, the turbo-back exhaust is on, but not without a lot of hard work. At around 6pm Adrian, Cesar, Joe, Ezra, and Mike came out to help. Q dropped by with the much needed short 14mm socket. We were able to put in a few other things while we were at it... the STi Pitch stopper and Kartboy shifter bushings. Everyone had left by about 11pm, but at least the downpipe was off lol. This says nothing of of how Adrian, Cesar, and Mike, but the rest of us usually work s-l-o-w. After the last person left, I ate a little more pizza, but just couldn't stop thinking of finishing it. So, I headed back into the garage. I had to take off, align, take off, and realign the downpipe several times. The hanger that bolts to the transmission would not fit, even after using a mallet to straighten it out. It was off by about half an inch. I had to pull it towards the hanger while bolting it in. This kinda put the rest of the exhaust out of whack. This was one of the reasons why I wanted the BB downpipe. It had a flex pipe, and a longer wastgate tube. I had a helluva time getting the new exhaust in and out of the hangers. I finished by 3am, took a long hot shower and went to sleep. I had the car show to go to in 6 hours. I get several phone calls starting at 7am. My girlfriend, then Dave, then Joe, then my parents. I'm thinking, please let me sleep. Needless to say, I didn't make it. I spent the rest of the morning and noon putting the rest of the car back together cleaning up. Medel stopped by. I reflashed to stage 2 and started her up for the first time with the exhaust. It sounds great! But, it's fairly loud between idle and about 2k rpms. At about 2k+ rpms, I don't mind, but if I'm at a stop light or accelarating with a peace officer next to me, it's bound to catch attention. It's mellowed out since, but I'm contemplating having a longer resonator installed. Plus, I can get a longer hanger welded in at the dowpipe.

So, was it worth it? Nothing is worth the trouble I had to go through with the performance shop. Do I like it? I'm happy with the performance, not so much with the fit. Anyways, if you've read this far, thanks for reading my two-week biography on my car haha. I've still got my Perrin Pulley to install, and Joe's steel braided lines. Anyone up for round two this weekend?

The perrin DP is a nice piece, but I would have waited for the B&B DP, purely for the flex section. Good luck on the crank pulley, that's a pain

Sorry, forgot the obligatory cliff notes for the insanely long post.

Cliff notes:

1. kingpinperformance bad
2. turbo-back exhaust power good
3. only one catalytic converter stinky

I was using only one cat on my TurboXS setup on my WRX and it was fine. I would bet dollars to donuts that it would have blown cleaner on a sniffer test as well

Right now, I do wish I would have waited for the BB DP, just for that piece of mind. However, I haven't had any problems since the install. Then again, I haven't opened her up in the mountains. As for the crank pulley, I've done three of them, but they were on different cars. I think I know which part you're talking about, and it still boggles my mind how anyone can get that complete additional ~45 degree turn without using air tools.

No, it's not too bad, but when it's idling it does have a not-so-stock smell to it. I kinda scraped what I think might be the resonator in the parking garage today. Not on the speed bumps (yet), but on of the up ramps between floors. I'm gonna have to double check all the connections when I get home. Scott, do you guys think you can weld in a better transmission hanger than the one that came on the Perrin DP? I've also got a 12" long 3" ID resonator I'm thinking of welding in, too. Either right behind the existing resonator, or completely replacing it.

yes, we would be able to do any of that. Give a call down to the shop and Joe can give you a quote on what it would run
