Exclamation Virginia City Hill Climb

Got this from one of the track groups I belong to. I thought some of the Sac and/or Reno folks might be interested. It's a bit pricey, but what do you expect from the Ferrari guys:

TrackMasters Racers,

Have you ever heard of the Virginia City Hill Climb? We'll if you
haven't,
and you like to drive your car fast in different situations and road
conditions(legally!), then you may want to check this out.

The Pacific Region Ferrari Club has invited TrackMasters Racing members
to
particpate in the 2004 running of the Virginia City Hill Climb.(between
Reno
and Carson City, Nevada) The Ferrari club is the only group allowed to
run
this event, and has been doing so successfully for many years.

The Hill Climb at Virginia City, held September 17,18,& 19 this year,
is now
in its 30th year. This 3-day event is the Ferrari Clubs most popular
one and
is always sold out. The road from Silver City up to Virginia City is
5.2
miles long with 20 + turns and an elevation change of 1200 feet.
Normally,
100 Ferrari's and Shelby’s show up to drive the hill for 2 full days
with a
celebratory banquet on Sunday night.

The hill climb is a timed event, so as long as your car is started in
the
correct class, you may only encounter a few cars on the way up the
hill. My
understanding is that the car you enter must be street legal and
licensed.

Time is running short to register and plan for this event, so if you're
interested call Dennis Chiodo at: 925 250 9276

The cost for the event is $385 which includes a T shirt,Fri/Sat/Sun
dinners
for 1 driver, or $570.00 for 1 car & 2 drivers.

More details of a past VC Hill Climb event can be viewed here:
http://www.nsxfiles.com/VCHillClimb.htm

I won't be there, but if you go, HAVE FUN!

Best regards,

Doug Gale

Thats funny, we were just talking about it the other day. A guy up here was making the signs for the road closure for the event. Anyways, I think it sounds like fun. I'd love to see what its all about.

Actually, Dean was the chair of that event a few years back. I hear it''s insane, I may go watch if there is nothing else going on that weekend. If you've never driven that road you're missing out, one of the local favorites...

Yeah, he was the chair when someone flew of the road and ended themselves and their co-driver. Also, it was the Audi Club version of the event, I don't think Dean's ever been the chair of a Ferrari Club event... mostly because Ferrari hasn't built an AWD turbo car yet.

This is a *real deal* hillclimb... you don't f-around on the truck route. IMO, bring a fully prepped car, or don't expect to survive an off.

However, I'll be watching a bunch of rich guys race their retarded-fast million dollar toys up the mountain while risking their lives would be pretty entertaining!

Sounds like a bad *** event, but there's no way I would do it without a serious cage, as dknv said.

How much is it if I pack my own Togo's sandwiches and wear my own Mt Hammy t-shirt?
