So, good morning SRiC.

I called the morons at Surewest who insisted on running through the script even though I already performed all of the steps on my own. DSL modem hooked directly to my desktop, bypassing the Netgear Wireless Router - check. DSL modem reset - check. DSL modem on/off - check. All lights are green on the DSL modem - check. Then the guy tells me he can see my modem so it must be my computer. To which I reply - why don't you look back in your records at the last time we had a power outage (lightning strike)? I had the exact same symptoms and it ended up being your block in the telephone can on the side of the house, despite you being able to see my modem.

It's just frustrating that they have to treat every caller as if they're a moron.

I have unlimited internet from my Treo, but who wants to surf the net on your phone? It takes too damn long and looks like crap.

My dad had that bumper sticker on his gas guzzling truck back during the fuel crisis in the late 70's (I know, prehistoric times for most of you).

It read: "Save gas... fart in a jar".

that is sucky. i've never had DSL go down from a power outage. What "block in the telephone can" are you talking about? isn't DSL piggybacked onto your phone-line until a splitter is plugged in at the individual outlet?
