Unocal 76 -> ConocoPhillips 76?

I'd heard a while back that ConocoPhillips bought 76, but the blend was un-changed (meaning 76 is not the same as Conoco). Now I see all the 76 stations are replacing their logo's with red crapola... are they going to change the gas next?

One thing I noticed at the 76 where I usually fill up (Reed Ave) is that they covered up all of their stickers mentioning the 76 "power" brand. I hope they don't change too much. I like 76

Shyte, which gas has the best MON rating after 76? That was the reason it was better than others. Unfortunately, that can change for day to day.

I wonder what this does for the availability of 100 octane race fuel at Watt/Marconi Ave? I'll have to drive by there to see, unless RussB checks it out first.

Chevron has always been my runner up choice to 76. It may have to get moved up a notch now.

Consider this though, changing the blend at a refinery is not always a simple task. It may involve significant (read costly) plant modifications. If that is the case with the 76 refineries, CP may not change the blend at all (or at least not until the next major plant shutdown).

My condolences.

Anyhoo, they still sell 100 octane 'street racing gas' at the 76 at Watt/Marconi. This morning I put three gallons of the good stuff in my tank before topping off with weaksauce 91.
