I think I just got... eye f00ked at work just now.
I was talking to this girl who always does the whole giggle-head-tilt-hair-flip thing with me every time I talk to her.
I was all, "

ok math/computer smarties, here's my situation. I logged my mpg on the way to work today and was going to do a simple average on excel but the average is getting thrown off by the numbers from when I was coasting not in gear (100+ mpg ftw). So here's where I need help. What's it called when you average a set of numbers excluding the really high and really low values. As it stands now with a simple average of all the values I got 57 mpg (suck on that prius). If anyone also knows the formula to stick in excel that'd be great too
1. fill up your tank.
2. re-set your trip meter.
3. at the next refill, divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons pumped.
4. forget all that data logging mess just to get mileage.
