I was told this story a long time ago. Not sure how true it is.
A dude tries to sell his car. The buyer insists on using a check. After some haggling the dude gives in and takes the check for a couple grand.
Later Dude goes to the buyers bank to cash the check. Bank teller says there is insufficient funds. Dude asks teller how much to make it good. Teller says something like $85 bucks. Dude makes a deposit for $85 bucks in buyers account then cashes check. Buyer now has zero funds.
