the GM at my work is so cool. she just called to ask if i wanted to take the day off. i said i wouild prefer not to. she then said that if i want to come in thats fine, but that if i take the day off, she wont write me up for missing my shift yesterday. needless to say, im staying ive got the day off.

getting the day off today, and not getting in trouble for ****ing up yesterday...... cant complain about that.

i just cant **** up again or ill lose my job. so im hooking up another alarm clock in my room for when i have day shifts.

Uh, dude, being offered incentives not to come in is not really a good sign...

That's what I was thinking. Didn't he miss a shift last week too? How early could it possibly be?

You have to remember he's an hourly employee and the manager has to manage their labor costs. It sounds like Justin could have gone in but probably would have gotten sent home early anyway, so to keep her labor costs down and not waste his time she said "look, stay home, have a day off and I won't write you up", if he were in trouble he'd know by looking at the schedule that was devoid of his name

I used to have trouble waking up in the morning for work, so I had 2 alarm clocks and a TV that would turn on at a certain time. I would set the TV and put the remote across the room, then stagger the two alarm clocks that were also placed around the room such that I'd have to get out of bed to turn them off :wiggle:

I had a job where I had to be at work by 4:45 am for awhile, I used a watch, cel phone and 2 alarm clocks. I got so paranoid that after a couple months I'd automatically wake up a couple minutes before my alarm went off.

Yeah... but being the one asked to come in > not being asked. Although I agree, some businesses are ****ed up about scheduling.

make sure the 2nd alarm is across the room. That was the only way for me to ever make AM classes in College

People may have gotten there earlier. When you work in restaurants and you have a mid-morning start, sometimes you just don't need to be there.
