Well, today was kind of interesting..
Been deal with jaw/ear/head pain since Monday. Pretty rough stuff actually. The pain was keeping me up at night. Since Sunday night, I've had a total of maybe 10 hours of sleep. Made an appointment with the doctor for today. Whatever.
While eating breakfast this morning, bit down and FUUUUUUUUUU stabbing pain in my tooth. Call the dentist, "Think I can come in today?", "It looks like we're fully booked and there doesn't seem to be anything open next week either.." My solution, show up. Serendipitously, an opening somehow "just became available". Dentist checks me out. Either (a) a loose crown, or (b) an infection under the tooth. Awesome. Refers me to an endodontist for Monday.
Haul butt over to Kaiser for my original appointment. Doctor looks me over and basically says to wait and see what the endodontist says because they're the expert, not her. Fair enough. In the meantime, she prescribes me antibiotics for the infection and very large doses of Ibuprofen for the pain.
All said and done, emergency dental exam and referral, Kaiser visit and meds = $20 total.

But in all seriousness I hope this gets resolved before you fly out.
