I'm seeing posts on other forums where guys are updating their phone that is locked still but has third party apps and they're getting a "your sim isn't recognized" error.

Well, if you think about it, basically people are "modding" the phone and installing unauthorized stuff on there. I agree that it sucks, because I would be doing the same stuff to my phone, but it's against the user agreement

 

how DARE apple have a say on how their equipment is used ...

 

So I'm thinking about going to AT&T and getting the Palm 750. I've had Verizon for the last 4yrs and while their service is absolutely perfect the options for phones SUCK. They have the Palm 700WX, but its $399 for me and I hate their selection of phones and on all the phones, but the PDAs have the same GUI and its terrible. I love the windows based PDAs since I can perform a plethora of tasks and alot more versatility. Anyone have any issues with service with AT&T in the Sac area or even down near vacaville/fairfield? Thanks

Not to mention they're cutting down the $100 upgrade option for being with them for 2yrs. The phone selection just is horrible. I hate sliders, I hate flip phones, I hate all these stupid cutesy phones that are made for dumb 13 year old girls.

well.. yeah. its software. the Manufacture has the right to determine how their product should and should not be used.

although, I always try to find ways around that with whatever I buy, but I do not see a problem with them trying to control it.

perfect example, looked what happened with Sega and the Dreamcast. That system was awesome, but as soon as it was hacked, there were no more game sales.. at all.. ever. You could just download the disk and burn it, and you didnt even have to mod your Dreamcast for it to work.

all I see them doing is trying to protect what they developed, and stop people from using it on other services where they are not making any money on.
