This thread sucks.
A little Dyson love.
I just got a Dyson. I tried the whole "vaccum your room twice with your old vaccum and then try the Dyson" thing.
I have relatively new filters in the old bagless vac. I thought it was good, since it made a lot of noise and it filled the canister pretty well.
The Dyson pwned it hard. You can feel how much stronger it is. Our carpet changed colors, is brighter now and feels so nice to walk on again.
+1 for Dyson. This is the one we got:

How much? We've owned a Kirby before and it was a little busy for a vacuum but in reverse you could launch dice pretty far. For a grand plus though I'd rather get some wheels.

I thought this was gonna be about a Catholic High school girl on prom night.
Anyhooo...I've been kickin' the idea around of buying a Dyson; we have too many ****ing cats, mini Oaf has Asthma Lite, etc.
But, ****, $400 for a carpet sucker?!
Is it really worth it?

It was ~$450 and IMHO worth every over-priced penny. We have 2 cats, a dog, and my wife shedding everywhere. This thing pulled every strand of hair out of every flat surface in our house and sucked dirt out of a carpet I thought was clean. It sucked a LOT of dirt out of the carpet.
The feature I like the most, is the way it dumps the contents of the canister without you having to touch any of it.
A friend of ours that usually lasts 2 minutes before her allergies make her face swell like a over-ripe tomatoe visited us yesterday and lasted several hours hanging out in our house with no ill effects. AMAZING if you ask me.

I've seen a Euro porno with a Sinead look-a-like...bunch of dudes receiving oral treats & crashing their yoghurt trucks on her bald head...very funny.
ryball: can I barrow the carpet sucker for a day, so as to sell Mrs Oaf on it?

Seriously, though, I'll ask the wife, she has become disturbingly attached to it...
