Thinking about building a lightbar

I have a 09 forester with front underspoiler. no lightbar out there will fit for my car. i looked at homedepot and see lots of steel angle and steel plate i may be able to use to build one myself.

i m trying to avoid too many bolts on my bar. what kind of tools do i need to bend those steel plate?

I don't think it would be very hard. My friend and I built a 4pt rollbar for my 74 BMW 2002 for less then $40 using 2.5" DOM steel, came out really nice. I'd weld the whole thing and have it where it just bolts on like the ones you see for lots of $$$$

It all depends on the thickness of the steel and how precise you want the angles. Some machine shops or muffler shops will bend steel to your specs. A lot of that hardware store steel bends real easy. I built a light bar out of that stuff for a Toyota truck I used to have. I had a muffler shop bend and weld it for me. As well as cut the hole for my mounts. It looked real nice after I painted it. Unfortunately I don't have pics. The muffler shop was in South Sac and has changed owners since then. So, I'm not sure if they still do it.

Welding is not necessary. I just chose to weld because it got rid of the bolts and looked a lot cleaner.
