New Lightbar....check it out!

Well, after 2 months, and 3 prototypes, My lightbar is finally built. Although it is not 100% perfect (there are a few little thing the guys want to fix) the general design won't change.

This was a custom job, but if there are enough people interested in it, they will begin selling these. Price would be TBA, but it would be around 200$ and include all mounting hardware, but no lights (im sure a package could be put together). Also, additional light tabs can be welded on to acomidate for more lights. Here are a few pics...lemme know what you think!

i think for offroad its cool but leavin it on fulltime would be a bit weird, unless you take off the lights and use it as a deer ram haha

What would be the purpose? Burning out the retinas of oncoming traffic? Maybe on a rally car or if you're Mr. Magoo.

To each their own in terms of taste and aesthetics but regardless I'm impressed with the final product. Very clean...

Suggestion: someone get the wires routed through the lightbar? that might make them more resistant to things snagging on them and maybe ripping the wires apart.

Otherwise, very clean, way to go!

to tell ya the truth, I like it, but I have a way you could improve it...If you're gonna put a light bar on, you might as well go all the way and make it into a full frontal brush guard...I have an OBS, and I've been waiting for someone to come up with a brush guard to protect the front end, as well as some space to mount extra lights...I'm surprised no one has done this yet

i like it dan

my suggesstion is to run the wires down through the bar and then out of it into the engine compartment.
IMHO its tacky to just have the wires out like that.

Lol, I just came back to look at this thread. Well, as of now its painted flat black, and will be put back on in a few days. Thanks to the compliments. As for a full "brush bar" Its hard to mount something that big on the car, unless you use the same design at the Primitive Lightbar design (uses radiator supports as 2/4 of the mounts)

The wires have gotten cleaned up and will be run below the bar and through the lower grill opening (I used my wiring form when I previously had the lights mounted, and it was too short to reach anywhere but out in front like that.

As for usefulness, During the winter, I will put the amber fog covers on, and they help ALOT (gets pretty foggy here in Northern Cali), and I also live right on the edge of the city, so I have lots of backroads with no street lights.

If anyone is interested in one, PM me and Ill see what might be workable, but unfortunately Jeremy Starr from S^2 (those who read the BAIC forum know...its a sticky) was the one who built it for me, and he's no longer with us .

what is it made out of? is it just one continous bend of pipe? and what is it mounted on underneath the bumper? it is pretty cool, just that you went out and made something. and for the guys bustin your ***** at least you came up with something, they didn't.

I thought I posted a responce...but either way..

Its mandrel bent 1" diam. chromoly steel (so it can rust, if not taken care of). The bar itself is one big piece with tabs welded on to mount to the bracket. The bracket (square stock steel) then mounts to the "U-brace" (only on 02+ Imprezas) and the lower radiator mount. With the bracket design, you can remove the lightbar without removing the plastic splash guard on 02+ models.
