He used to bring us in every time something new and cool would come in that didn't require clearance. I got to see when those guys were testing the Wright Bros recreation, when NASA was testing the SOFIA platform, some cars, a couple of helicopters he was working on , and a bunch of other cool stuff. SUPER awesome.
I even got to see the building where they used to use monkeys to crash test helmets.

In one of my high school classes in Newark we'd have the side door open and you could look across the bay and see that hanger. Then our teacher would remind us that it was surely a target of the enemy.
i was in elementary school around that time.... or after (old man!
