I am probably the worst gift wrapper there is, when I gift wrap it looks like I just grabbed a piece of wrapping paper wrapped it around as many times as I can and tape the living **** outa it. Oh well, I don't remember anyone ever saying "Man your gift sure would have been a lot better if the wrapping paper would have looked prettier", nor have I ever heard anyone rejecting a gift because it was wrapped ugly.

LOL!!!
You are right, I think I would rather spend an extra 10 minutes wrapping instead of getting that look!!
Great,
I'm bidding on a nice piece of vintage jewelry for the girlfriend on Ebay, and only now do I notice that it has 3 days to go until the end of the bid period. There's no way I'll have it in time for Xmas.
Should I make a copy of it on the color printer, and show it to her on Xmas if I win the bid? Or, do I just look for another piece of jewelry ending soon like RIGHT NOW.
I suppose I should bid on another one as backup. Save the first one for Valentine's Day if I win both, though I'll be broke.

If she's the kind of gf thatwould be cool with getting a "this present is on the way" then do it if she'll love it. Otherwise, better come up with something a bit sooner

a good jeweler can make her a one of a kind setting for cheaper than you can get one premade form most high end jewelry stores.
if you get the stones through Costco they will certify the diamonds to appraise at 200% of your purchase price or they'll refund you the difference (at least they used to...haven't checked lately). so you basically get the diamonds at half off then take them to a good ol' mom-n-pop jeweler and have them make her something special.
make a nice card to explain what her gift is and explain tha you wanted her to help design it since she's the one that's gonna have to wear it.
we did this with my wife's wedding band. ended up saving us money and she got a one of a kind ring that she's proud of.
just a thought.
