Super ultra-custom weighted shifter mod.
So.. New synchros and gears.. 3rd is being a bit obstinate on the break-in.. Have to be moderately direct / firm - done right the baulk ring stops the shifter and then it slides in like butter as it should.. Limp wrist it a bit and I end up with a bit of a grind under certain conditions.. Plus I have an uber short shifter than allows for about a .000001% error in shifter movement.
I like driving like a lazy, limp wristed old man in traffic (unless I'm driving an actual dogbox - then I just pretend I'm Petter Solberg running through an Urban Stage) and don't want to grind the dogs off 3rd... Too lazy to drive around and shop for a weighted shift ****..
Solution! (Untill I order a weighted **** somewhere - I like heavy *****)

Heh. heh. hehheh.. eh....

I actually want kind of the opposite.. My short shifter already sits VERY low.. That socket is stuck on top of the factory shift ****...SO whatever **** it is needs to be threaded to the base so I can space it up a bit.
I like delrin - but I like heavier better.. At LEAST 300 grams. I haven't seen a weighted delrin heavier than around 140 grams.

If you swing by Paul's, ask to see the **** in the Forester. I had it made on a lark, it's about a pound and a half of stainless steel, in the form of a 6" piston-style ****. I have a guy back east that makes 'em for me. It's a 6MT ****, but it'll work on a 5MT. Only drawback is that it cost a few bucks, but it'll cure ANY shifting problem, lol.
FWIW, I have a SS sphere that's also got a lot of weight to it, and looks "normal". Any "weighted" **** is just an attempt to get close to a solid chunk of metal anyways.....

I've always had them done in a bead-blasted finish, which shouldn't make any difference, but it seems to make it tolerable.
But, uh, you know my wheel *issues*?
It extends to shift ***** - I can see 11 for the STi on my desk right now, and that's not including the one mounted and the spare in the STi. I turn my own out of cherry, oak, etc, in addition to having a number of copolymer ones (including one of Adrian's once he gets white stock in, uh, stock), so I don't run the stainless steel ones in Sac summers.
