STi short throw shifter

I'm thinking about buying one for my '05. I know there's the factory one and also one from Kartboy. Anybody have any experience or opinions about what the best short throw is for my STi?

Do they tend to cause those kind of problems? Even the factory one?

I know one of the Reno guys has one on his STI. It was a bit pricey but he said it was WAY better than the kartboy or factory model. You might try searching SECCS (www.seccs.org).

Replace the OE bushings w/ Kartboy & don't use a ss.

+1

The Kartboy bushings along with the Turn In Concepts bushings make a wonderful combination with great feel.

I agree. I had the STI without bushings on my bugeye and it was way better than my current Cobb setup with bushings. Either upgrade your tranny mount and/or change all associated bushings; see turninconcepts.com. Good luck.

Thumbs up

I have the factory ss from Suby. Love it. Engages sharp and clean ~ no grinding here at all. Another customer added the Kart Boy ss to his O.E.M ss and that turned out to be a sweet combo as well.

Don't use a short shifter because it causes problems or because it's not worth it?

I think he's talking about my roomate, and I'm not even sure which one he has. I just know the throw is crazy short.

plus another one

After being in a a few STi's with the kartboy bushing and the Turn in Concepts bushings I am very impressed (Turn In Concepts sells the package with their stuff and kartboy stuff). If you want an SS, the Kartboy short shifter can be bundled with this bushing package and is awesome. I think its the best thing you can do for your shifting on the STi six speed.

EDIT: Um, sentence fragments suck

You want the TIC/KB combo. I have it and it is amazing. No griding gears for me in 12000 miles.
