Anyone know if the Fram Double Guard is any good? It's one of those highspeed expensive black ones with "teflon." I found one collecting dust but am reserved in screwing her on.

Yea I've used one before. It's pretty good as the OEM one.

As long as it's new it should be ok.

it's an oil filter...and even if it's a poor one it will do what it's supposed to do for 3000 miles.

I forget where I saw it, but there was a guy that cut open oil filters to rate the construction, etc. and found that a lot of the frams elements weren'e even connected.

I will not use fram on any of our cars, even my wife's POS that I actually hope dies soon...

...but if it's all you've got...

So I filled the Fram and got her ready to screw on. Well, it didn't fit. I'm 110% positive that it's the correct part # because I checked it on the catalog and internet about five times. But the damn thing didn't catch the threads to save my life.

So I walked to the autoparts store and had to settle for a Penzoil which is made by Fram IIRC. Perfect. Filters looked identical to the one that didn't fit so I found the one with the cleanest threads and crossed my fingers back home. It worked.

All there is around me are Kragens. The closest Pep-boys and Napa is in Sacramento. Why is it that Kragen and Autozone monopolize the industry but stock complete crap? When you look to the back wall all you see is an orange wall of fram garbage.

Would it kill these people to get a contract with Puroilator, Amsoil and Royal Purple? ****!!!! Seems like Tognottis is the only place to get the really good stuff.

I have one on now. Yes, it's a high speed, squared-away, super trooper oil filter.

you can get Amsoil thru the trick/VP fuel place off sunrise...its the place you can see on the north side of the freeway next to the boat store, about a block past CA limo. (sorry can't remember the name off hand)
but that may not be close for you if you're in either, Roseville, Natomas or EG. areas.

Yeah I hear that. I usually don't use anything generic but I was in a pinch and had to. At least it's Motul oil.
