And two years later it looks better except for the CO@idle is up a little. The motor has ~12K miles now. Time to sell it.

Hm....I went for a smog test today

Stock dp, 1000cc injectors and was running at e52.

At idle, both hc and co2 was high on the pretest.

Should I have run the car on the freeway for a few miles? I drove it about 2 miles locally. Wonder if the cat was not hot enough

Thx

No where near enough time to fully light the cat...even with magic corn juice. Hell, your thermostat prolly didn't even open. *Should* pass no prob if hot enough.

alright...will try it again this friday. see about having the tune tweaked a little and then get it back for smog after a decent amount of freeway drive.

thanks.

No expert, but it'd probably depend on the tune. With 1000cc injectors and and aggressive tune...I'd be surprised. You're still burning hydrocarbons.

No. It needs a cat to pass. Injectors and how aggressive your tune is has nothing to do with it (well the tune does, but not at all in the context you're talking about)

My LGT is going to need to be smogged in about 6 months. Currently Stage 2. I'm curious what it would run in it's current setup. I know it'd fail visual but I want to know on the sniffer.

Honestly though, I've NEVER had any Subaru (out of the 3 I've had to smog) show any issues getting smogged. Most look just like the OP's with nearly 0 across the board. This includes ones with high flow cat's where I swap the stock cats that haven't been used in months in for a few days to get smogged.

Has anyone had issues passing their car after converting to e85 at a test only site? When I say pass, i'm talking about visual inspection. Apologies if it's a stupid question just doing some research. It makes your car run cleaner but my understanding is if we alter things in the engine it would fail visual inspection.

It all depends on the Smog Tech honestly, some know what they are looking at and care so they do their job and fail the car. Others either do not have enough knowledge to notice what you've changed or just do not care about a visual so long as the car burns clean and passes OBDII.
e85 wouldn't fail your visual, now the supporting mods for e85 may. Not sure what the question is

Most cars just run injectors, which are usually covered by brackets/shields. Everything else you'd swap back to stock to pass visual. What else are we talking about?
I've had numerous cars pass perfectly on e85 now. Also not sure what the actual question is.

In order for me to pass on E85, I had to put my stock downpipe back on and that was it.

I have 850cc injectors and like Vladi mentioned above, they are covered with brackets, so its almost impossible to know whether they are stock or not.
